I don’t know why I’m so on the fence about this movie. Red State was marketed as a horror movie but was definitely more of a thriller/dark comedy- but that doesn’t bother me. It had a fantastic cast (Breaking Bad alums, John Goodman, Stephen Root, and Michael Angarino- oh my), was tense and creative, and it actually made me gasp a few times. Michael Parks was incredible as Abin, the head of the 5-Point Baptists, and John Goodman was spot-on as the atheist, level-headed lead tactical agent. So with killer casting, Kevin Smith snark, religious fanaticism, and lots of violence, why am I still unsure???? WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS MOVIE?

Red State was full of underdeveloped characters and let downs all over the place. Not like Kevin Smith at all. Really bummed out.
But GOD DAMMIT this poster is fantastic!
Currently watching! I hope he isn’t right and this is awesome. Netflix thinks it’s a 4 out of 5 stars for me so we shall see.
